February 3, 2006 - MAGIX, the photo, video, and audio software company, announced yesterday the upcoming release of MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 11. The software program is slated to replace the Movie Edit Pro 10 edition, which received accolades from both Videomaker and Camcorder & Computer Video Magazine earlier this year. MAGIX markets the program at the low-cost sector and intends to release this version at the same price as Movie Edit Pro 10, only $59.99. The software will become available March 30.

MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 11 provides users with editing wizards, automatic scene recognition, and chapter markers, along with the option to edit up to 16 separate audio and video tracks in one project. Movie Edit Pro 11 also supports features like surround sound with AC3 codec importation, HD-TV, 16:9 widescreen, and double layer DVD exportation.

Surprisingly, some advanced features are also available. Users will also have choices regarding 3D transitions, effects, animated menu structures, Gamma control, Alpha Channel keying, and audio overdubbing. All of these features are available within a relatively simple interface, tailored to an audience that is typically intimidated by both the price and complexity of advanced editing suites such as Premiere Pro, Avid, and Final Cut.

The most hyped improvements over Movie Edit Pro 10 is a feature which allows users to upload streaming video for free to their personalized MAGIX Online Photo and Video Album website. This option is likely meant to compete for consumers interested in HP’s Snapfish website, which offers similar features. Unlike HP, the MAGIX site is free to initiate and will not require a monthly maintenance fee.

The MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 11 software program is only available for Windows platform and will have an MSRP of $59.95. Expect to see this product beginning March 30th, 2006.
