June 5, 2006 - MacroSystem, Inc., creator of Casablanca NLE systems, announced the release of an HDV Recorder on Friday. The MacroSystem HDV Recorder is a standalone conversion box that provides realtime, archiving, and transferring of high definition video without compression.

One of the product’s main benefits is its ability to display HDV video in a 1920 x 1200 resolution on non-HDTV studio monitors via a DVI connection. The use of a DVI connection rather than an analog component allows for much higher resolution without the compression and eliminates the need for a “proxy” version. The HDV recorder accepts all forms of HD video: 1080i, 720p, and 1080p, in both NTSC and PAL.

Direct archiving of HD video is also possible with the removable 250GB hard drive, with up to 30 partitions for up to 23 hours of video. The unit is also compatible with all HDV camcorders, recorders, and editing applications. Hardware features include front and back FireWire inputs, DVI and VGA outputs, S/P DIF coaxial digital and analogue stereo audio outputs, a DVD reader, and a mini-keypad.

The MacroSystem HDV Recorder retails for $1999. More information and a list of authorized dealers can be found at www.macrosystem.us/.
