Next Gen Core Duo Chip Details Released

Posted by Richard Baguley

Intel have released the details of their next generation of dual core processors: the new chips will be under the Core 2 Duo brand, and there will be three versions. The most interesting for video users will be the Core 2 Extreme, a new dual core chip that’s designed for high-end desktop systems and servers. Intel hasn't revealed any detailed specifications on the new processors yet, but the Extreme chip will be the fastest version with the largest caches, which would probably make it a killer chip for editing and encoding video. The announcement from Intel is here.
