October 31, 2006 – Focus Enhancements has announced a new series of Portable Direct to Edit (DTE) Recorders with higher capacities, the FS-4HD and the FS-4Pro HD models. The FS-4HD offers 40GB of disk space for 3 hours of DV/HDV video, while the FS-4Pro HD recorders are available in 60GB, 80GB, and 100GB capacities for up to 7.5 hours of footage.
 
The DTE Recorders weigh approximately one pound and connect to camcorders, computers, and other devices via a Firewire cable. Audio, video, timecode, and control information are all transferred.
 
The 40GB FS-4HD supports DV in a number of AVI formats, HDV in 1080i and 720p, and ships with a standard capacity 90 minute battery.
 
The FS-4Pro HD models offer several upgrades, including QuickTime HD support, time lapse recording in DV, additional DV AVI formats support, scene mark folder support, and a longer retro cache record (10 seconds). The 80GB and 100GB models also come with high capacity, 180 minute batteries. Third party power sources are available from Anton Bauer, IDX, and others.
 
The 40GB FS-4HD Recorder retails for $799. The FS-4Pro HD 60GB retails for 1295, the 80GB for $1595, and the 100GB for $1895. All four models are now available. More information can be found on the Focus Enhancements website.
