Other Reviews of the Sanyo VPC-HD1
Posted by Richard Baguley
So following on from our review of the Sanyo VPC-HD1 flash memory camcorder, I thought I’d link to a few other viewpoints on this interesting (but ultimately rather disappointing) camcorder. - Akihabara News found it to be “a real disappointment, and we really hope that Sanyo will review this product asap and release a product that lives up to their announcement and our expectations.”
- The New York Times was a little more positive, saying that “when the light is good, the camera's stable and the expectations aren't sky-high, the HD1 may just restore some luster to the tarnished reputation of the class of memory-card pocketcorders.”
- The Gadgeteer published an early review in February: “When it's all said and done, the Xacti VPC-HD1 is a great little video camera.”
- Steve’s Digicams said that it was “a blast to use”, but that “the family wishing to capture those special moments on video we think you'll be better served with one of today's MiniDV camcorders and a good 5MP digital still camera.”
