What’s in the Box?
The Panasonic PV-GS85 ships with the following items:

- AC Adapter
- DC Cable
- AC Cable
- CGR-DU06 Battery Pack
- AV Cable
- USB Cable

This is a modest set of offerings. You’ll need to invest in a backup battery and pack of MiniDV tapes.

Other Features (3.0)
Video Light - The PV-GS85 distinguishes itself from the PV-GS320 by offering a poorer imaging chip and this, a video light. Located on the front of the camcorder, the light is good for subjects up to a few feet away. Be aware that it costs battery life to operate.

Fades - To fade in and out of a shot like your favorite Godfather film, select Fades in the Joystick menu. Black and white are your color options.

MagicPix - Panasonic’s version of Night Mode functions by allowing the shutter speed to drop significantly in order to accommodate low light situations. The variable shutter speed is quite slow to kick in, so unless you want to team up with white Fades and do a dream sequence, MagicPix is not worth it.

Backlight Compensation - When a subject is embedded within a rather bright background, Backlight Compensation boosts the overall exposure to bring that subject into light.

Quick Start - When selected in the Administrative Menu, Quick Start enables the PV-GS85 to be powered on and off in approximately one second by opening and closing either the LCD screen or viewfinder. Beware: Quick Start will drain your battery if used frequently.
