March 6, 2006 - Pinnacle Systems, the consumer division of Avid Technology, has announced an April release for its new Dazzle line of video capture and viewing products. The new Dazzle products are designed to record video and play back from a number of sources, such as camcorders, TVs, Sony PSPs and Apple Video iPods.

The Dazzle series includes five new products, the DVD Recorder, the Video Creator, the Video Creator Platinum, TV Mobile, and TV PCI. Explaining why Pinnacle is expanding in this direction, Jeff Hastings, Pinnacle Systems general manager and Avid Vice President said, “Demand for mobile devices that have video capabilities continues to skyrocket, and consumers are looking for easy-to-use applications that can both manage and transfer video content to these portable products.”

The Dazzle DVD Recorder ($49 US) is a portable, USB-accessible device for one-click transfer of video to DVDs. The Dazzle Video Creator ($79 US) is PC-based hardware supporting Pinnacle Studio QuickStart for editing and creating DVDs. For creating video to play on DVDs, iPods, PSPs, and MPEG-4 mobile devices, Pinnacle also offers the Dazzle Video Creator Platinum ($99 US).

For playing back video, Pinnacle has two new systems. The Dazzle TV Mobile ($69 US) allows desktop and laptop users to watch, record, and timeshift TV programs, and also digitize old videos into DivX format. The Dazzle TV PCI ($49 US) has all the same features (for desktops only), as well as allowing users to upgrade Windows Media Center edition by adding greater TV functionality or adding a second tuner for watching one channel while recording another.

All products are available in April, but markets vary. Check the original press release for more information.
