Pinnacle Releases Studio 10 and Update on Same Day

Posted by Richard Baguley

Pinnacle achieved something of a dubious honor today: they released version 10 of their Studio video editing software worldwide and a mandatory update on the same day. The new version of Studio is now available worldwide, but there’s also an update that “Pinnacle strongly recommends installing…for all Studio 10.0, Studio Plus 10.0 and Studio 10 MediaSuite versions .” In other words: if you install the new program, you need to install the 61Mb patch immediately as well.

The list of problems that the patch includes is extensive: over 24, including a rather frighteningly named one for “Performance and stability”. This does make you wonder: was the product really ready if they had to issue an update so soon? Perhaps it’s not surprising that Pinnacle’s own forums seem to be overwhelmingly filled with users having problems; one user pleaded  “Hey Pinnacle programmers, PLEASE fix the bugs on this thing. If it just WORKED, you'd have a great product on your hands.
