Samsung HMX-R10 Camcorder Review Photo Gallery

The Samsung HMX-R10
The R10 comes equipped with a flash and several support options for still photography.
The internal microphone is mounted on the bottom of the camcorder—in a dangerous scuffing zone.
The left side of the R10 is relatively featureless.
Even with the LCD panel flipped open, there is not much to see.
The LCD panel hosts a handful of secondary controls (for zoom and record) as well as the Q.Menu button.
The 2.7-inch 230,000-pixel resolution LCD.
Inside the LCD cavity is an info button and the EasyQ mode button.
The primary zoom toggle is not pressure sensitive; you can only achieve a single, fast speed.
A small button on the back allows you to switch into dedicated photo mode. The shutter button is on top.
Aside from the Photo Mode button and zoom toggle, the back is home to the large video record button.
Inside this rubber port cover is a proprietary component/composite AV port, HDMI, and DC power.
The right side is conspicuously missing a traditional hand strap, but does have an anchor for the wrist strap.
The 5x optical, f/3.5 lens.
The most unique element of the R10 is the unique, angled lens.
The top holds little of interest except for the photo shutter button.
The battery compartment is enclosed, which means you cannot upgrade to a larger battery.
Aside from the battery/card slot, the bottom holds nothing but a tripod mount.
The card slot is hidden next to the battery. It is compatible with SD/SDHC memory cards.
The Samsung HMX-R10 in hand: the traditional grip is angled more gently because of the 45-degree lens.
The angle is more comfortable for your wrist, but without a wrist strap, there is little support.
If you prefer, the R10 is easily held in an alternative, flashlight-style grip.
This grip also has a nice, comfortable angle to it.
The Samsung HMX-R10 and everything that comes in the box.
