Snowball USB microphone reviewed

Posted by Richard Baguley

You wouldn’t normally describe microphones as cute, but I think the epithet applies to this one: The Snowball is a $150 USB condenser microphone with a retro 1950’s look that has both cardiod and omnidirectional modes (which makes it suitable for recording ambient sound and voices). And, because it’s a USB microphone, you don’t have to mess around with amplifiers or use the noisy microphone input on your notebook when recording sound on the road – you just plug it into the USB port and start recording.

And according to this review from Digital Producer, it’s also a damn good microphone: “the Snowball is a great little mic…its utilitarian nature and smooth sound quality make it a winner in a category where it really has few competitors.
