Sony DCR-SR80
Camcorder Review

PerformanceIntroduction
The DCR-SR80 ($800 MSRP) sits at the top of Sony’s new mid-priced hard disk drive (HDD) camcorder line. The budget follow-ups to the beloved DCR-SR100, this camcorder, along with the DCR-SR40 and SR60 are poised to knock JVC out of pole position in the growing HDD market. Being the mega-corporation that they are, Sony’s chances are good. But our complaints with the JVC Everios series find no redress here. Poor video quality disproportionate to the inflated prices seems to be the name of the game in under-$1000 HDD camcorders. Shop for the Sony DCR-SR80
