Sony Drops HDR-HC3 to $1500

It has just been announced today that Sony will be lowering the price of their new HDV 1080i HDR-HC3 camcorder to $1500. The original price for this camcorder was slated to be around $1700. The decision to lower the price is likely an attempt by Sony to attract more consumers to the HD format for video. The camcorder will begin shipping in April of 2006 and will be available both online and in authorized dealers nationwide.

“We hope this price move will encourage more people to embrace high-quality 1080i HD recording of their own personal memories,” said Linda Vuolo, director of camcorder products at Sony Electronics.
