August 8, 2007- The “World’s First HD Video Walkman” has received an approximate US release date after being announced in Europe two weeks ago. Sony has slated the GV-HD700 portable HD video playback deck to reach the local masses sometime in September with an MSRP of $1300.The GV-HD700 HD Walkman supports HDV 1080i and DV (SP/LP) playback, and can record directly to an HDV or DV tape from an external source. The HDV deck features a 7” wide LCD screen, L and M series infoLITHIUM battery compatibility, and a Memory Stick Duo slot.
Step-up features on the GV-HD700 include three assignable task buttons, up to six customizable LCD profiles, and the support of x.v. Color—a highly obscure color system that Sony has adapted and rebranded.
Connectivity on the GV-HD700 consists of HDMI, i.LINK, USB, headphone, and an AV Multi-connector featuring video, audio, and S-Video outputs. Other features include playback zoom, 12-Bit/16-Bit PCM digital stereo, and Crystal Clear Still/Slow motion playback.
