In addition to the HDR-HC1 (Specs, $2295), Sony professional announced the HVR-A1 a derivative of the consumer HDR-HC1. The HVR-A1 includes additional manual control as well as additional audio options including XLR inputs.
The HVR-A1 includes XLR inputs as well as independent control of channel 1 and channel 2 audio. In addition to recording HDTV video and DV video, the HVR-A1 can record an SD video signal to DVCAM tapes. The HVR-A1 includes the same CMOS chip as well as the same imaging processor as the consumer HDR-HC1.
The HVR-A1 also includes additional time code options and manual gain control. The HVR-A1U will be available in early fall for $3,500.
