Swarmcast Launches Autobahn HD for Flash

Posted by Karen M Cheung

SwarmcastSwarmcast, provider the Autobahn online video player, yesterday released the beta of the high definition platform for Flash.  Autobahn HD for Flash will now allow users to watch high quality streaming video in full-screen view.  Even though content is being produced in HD, there is still a lack of platforms for high definition delivery because of network, server, and bandwidth limits, although competing host sites such as Hulu and Vimeo are making the move to HD.  The Autobahn HD is the first free video player platform with Flash, according to Swarmcast.  How do they do it?  Autobahn HD uses multi-source, adaptive bitrate streaming technology to speed up networks.

The player is compatible with applications such as iTunes, MySpaceTV, and Veoh.  Swarmcast also opened up the source code for Flash developers.  The trial offer of Swarmcast’s Autobahn HD for Flash is available here.
