Taiwanese Camcorder Manufacturers Facing Stiff Competition

Posted by Richard Baguley

Digitimes.com has an interesting article about the Taiwanese camcorder market. It seems that a lot of second-tier digital camera makers have been burned by the fierce competition in digital still cameras, so they have moved into making budget camcorders instead. However, the Japanese brands (Sony, etc) have been cutting prices to compete, and they are getting squeezed out. I wonder if any of these brands (such as Chicony and Tekom) are going to try marketing in the US? One of them (Aiptek) does already sell some products over here.
