This week in the world of online video business, some companies are launching more sites and expanding into the mobile arena, while others are going under.Revver rumor to go under – Talk is spreading that the video sharing site Revver, known for protecting its users’ copyrights, is hemorrhaging money. Reports say Revver is up for sale for $300,000 to $500,000. When we spoke to Revver last month, they neither confirmed nor denied the rumors. [via CNET] Yahoo and Microsoft – Microsoft placed a bid of $44.6 billion for Yahoo. [via Washington Post]
Yahoo Live – The third division of Yahoo video is Yahoo Live, a live personal streaming video service that launched this week. Critics are all over this one as anticipate the doom of Yahoo Live. Yahoo Live is currently in a soft launch phase. [via Inside Online Video]
Yellow Pages and review videos – Putlocal.com, a Yellow Pages local website, launched the Local Video Review Profit-Sharing Program so that video producers can earn cash from posting reviews of local businesses. Producers can earn 50 percent of the ad revenue generated from those videos. [via Reel SEO]
TurnHere raises $7.5 Mil – With $7.5 million in funds from Hearst Interactive Media and Venrock, the video distribution company TurnHere will focus on developing its services and production team. TurnHere has clients including YellowPages, CondeNast, and Discovery. [via Mashable]
Howcast launch – The how-to video site Howcast.com launched under the support of former Google and YouTube employees. The company raised $8 million and plans to create a revenue-sharing model for its video producers. [via NewTeeVee]
BlogTV goes mobile – The live streaming video service BlogTV.com is now available on select mobile devices. Users can watch live shows from the BlogTV platform, following suit with YouTube’s recent move to mobile. [via TechCrunch]
CINELAN film distributor launches – The film distributing company CINELAN today launched to capitalize on short documentaries for different mediums including the Web and mobile devices. The company plans to create and monetize on short form videos, in the same vein as Jackson Bites, Film7, and Blowtorch Entertainment. [via NewTeeVee]
