April 23, 2006 - Greetings from NAB 2006 (in longhand, the National Association of Broadcasters Media Show), in sunny Las Vegas, Nevada. From April 22 – 27, the Convention Center will be packed with more than 100,000 attendees and 1400 exhibitors showing off the latest in professional media technology. We’re here to tell you what this means for the average consumer.
Unlike CES and PMA, the NAB show focuses on high-end products for broadcasters and industry professionals. You won’t find ultra-compacts and Sony HandyCams in these halls. What you will see, though, is a hint at the future of consumer goods. The hot, pricey features of today’s studio and broadcast shoulder-mount cameras will eventually trickle down to your point-and-shoot camcorder.
In the coming days, we will bring you reports on press events from Panasonic, Sony, and Canon, as well as all the action on the floor, and put that information in context. Of course, we’ll also be rolling out news on the really cool products, so be sure to check back at CCI regularly.
For official info, check out the NAB site.
