YouTube fixes view count bug

Posted by Karen M Cheung

YouTube yesterday corrected an issue with its video view counts. The view count tracks the number of hits a video gets, but the corruption temporarily led counts to remain stagnant instead of increasing. YouTube states that the problem has been resolved. Does the number of views really matter? It depends on who you ask. For the lucky few in the YouTube rewards program, the number of views adds up to how much money a video can earn if it goes viral. For average users, an incorrect view count is simply an annoyance.

YouTube is continuing to work on other known bugs, including non-working streams and incorrect number of message counts.
