Adaptec Releases Three New FireWire Cards

Today, Adaptec, long known for their low end FireWire solutions announced three new FireWire capture cards, aimed at bringing DVD content and VCD content creation software to the low end consumer.

The first product is the DVPics Plus. It includes a FireWire card with three ports, MGI VideoWave 4 SE and Sonic MyDVD software for Windows. The MyDVD enables users to easily create DVDs or VCDs and MGI VideoWave is an easy to use video editing package. The cost of this entire package is $79.

Adaptec also announced a version of the DVPics card for laptops, called FireConnect for Notebooks. The kit, includes all the software of DVPics Plus but only includes one FireWire port. The MSRP is $100 for FireConnect.

Finally, Adaptec announced DuoConnect. A PC and Mac card with both a FireWire Port and a USB 2.0 Port. The kit also includes a FireWire cable. The product also includes a copy of MyDVD, MGI VideoWave and the drivers for the USB. The USB 2.0 port will accept older, USB 1.1 devices and newer, faster USB 2.0 devices. The card includes three external, one internal USB ports and two external and one internal FireWire ports.
