Until now, Adobe Premiere™ users wanting real-time functunionality from their favorite non-linear editor would have to invest in relatively expensive, hardware-based solutions from companies like Matrox and Pinnacle to get real-time performance, or they would simply have to accept Premiere’s software-based limitations, and wait for effects to finish rendering before they could see how those effects would look.
Well now it looks like the wait is over, in more ways than one.
SCM Microsystems announced today that its Dazzle Real-Time Plug-In for Adobe Premiere 6.5 would be available for $99.99 (U.S.)
Leveraging the power of today’s fast CPUs, Dazzle’s Real-Time Plug-In is capable, according to the company, of playing back ''at least three video streams, three color correction filters, transitions, picture-in-picture with motion, and title overlays'' simultaneously. Adding Dazzle’s DV/Analog I/O hardware allows real-time analog output to a preview monitor or VCR.
''Dazzle's software-based approach delivers the real-time productivity professional videographers and video enthusiasts want without the need to install expensive add-in boards,'' said Dirk Peters, director of marketing for SCM Microsystems' Digital Media and Video division. ''Since it's a scalable software solution, the faster your PC, the more real-time performance you get.''
''The ability of Dazzle's Real-Time Plug-In to handle DV and analog video in the native YUV format, along with the real-time handling of effects and transitions all inside of Adobe Premiere, makes the Real-Time Video Plug-In one of the best solutions for editing video,'' said Stephen Inoue, Senior Product Manager, Adobe Systems.
Dazzle’s Real-Time Plug-In for Adobe Premiere 6.5 is available for download at http://www.dazzle.com and will be available in stores June, 2003.
