Beginning with all new 2003 Camcorder models, Camcorderinfo.com is going to do analytical testing of the video performance of all hands on reviewed camcorders as well as the more subjective reviewing of the past. We are going to make a standardized camcorder benchmark system using completely mechanical or computer methods for measure for camcorder luminance, chrominance, resolution, low light performance, color representation and other possible variables. Our plans of doing this on every consumer camcorder under controlled conditions so the only variable is the camcorder CCD, will be a huge step in the consumer camcorder review industry.

We plan to make the tests completely standardized, so results from one camcorder are comparable to another. We will also weigh all the scores giving an all around Camcorderinfo.com benchmark score, which you can use to help make decisions about which camcorder has the best video quality.

This is going to be a very open process. Certain test methods however, including parts of our low light performance measurements might be slightly vague to protect us from our competitors. We want your input, if you think of any other things we should measure please tell us and please also offer your suggestions on how to improve our testing process.
