The ES180 has a MSRP of $499 and is an inexpensive camcorder with some good features. The ES180 has an optical zoom of 16x but no digital zoom. It has a color viewfinder and uses the 8mm format. The 8mm format offers up to 2.5 hours of recording time. The camera has a 1/4-inch CCD with 270,000 pixels.

The ES180 is Canon's least expensive camcorder. If you are looking for a Canon camcorder but don't have a lot of cash, this is a great camcorder for you. I personally do not like the 8mm format that much; it only offers about 300 lines of resolution which can't really cut it in anything other than inexpensive camcorders. But since this is a low price product, I think its features work great for the price range as does the 8mm format. I would recommend this camcorder to the beginner or the light-to-moderate user.
