The ES7000v is made by Canon and has a MSRP of $999. The camcorder uses the Hi8 format, a high quality non-digital format that can record up to 400 lines of resolution. The Hi8 format is a nice option if you want to stay away from digital. It offers a comparatively long 2.5 hours of recording time, much larger than MiniDV. The camcorder has a 16x optical zoom and a 72x digital zoom. The CCD is 1/2-inch and has 470,000 pixels. If you're looking for high quality sound in a lower priced camcorder, the ES7000v is a great choice with its Hi-fi stereo sound feature. There is a large 3.5-inch color LCD and a color viewfinder which can also help you get great shots.

The ES7000v is a good feature-packed Hi8 camcorder, but I feel that if you are going to spend anywhere around $1000, you should buy a digital camcorder. If you are looking for an inexpensive camcorder and you think that a 8mm or Hi8 is for you, I would recomend this one. It is one of Canon's cheapest Hi8 camcorders and is well priced for its class. I would recommend this to the medium to heavy user who wants a good camcorder but does not want to put too much money into buying one.
