A reliable source inside Canon who choose to remain anonymous has informed Camcorderinfo..com that Canon will be announcing the ZR60, the ZR65MC (Review, Specs, $259.99) and the ZR70MC at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January sometime from the 8th to the 12th. They will be upgrades to the previous year's ZR models.
The ZR60 is a replacement for the ZR50, the ZR 65MC is a replacement for the ZR 45MC and the ZR70MC is a replacement for the ZR50MC. The source said that there will be no major changes to the ZR60 above the ZR40, however he said that there will be mprovements made to the ZR65MC and the ZR70MC.
The source sad that the top two ZR models will now have a stronger zoom that is 1 or 2 times higher. He also said that the ZR60MC and ZR70MC will be able to record MPEG4 video on to SD cards, like the Canon Elura 40MC currently does.
This information was released at a confidential retailer meeting; however it was provided to us by an internal Canon source. We will publish any further information we get on the camcorders before they are officially announced as soon as it comes to us.
