Canopus Corporation is introducing a ''new line of realtime, professional MPEG encoding and DVD authoring solutions.'' The first two products of this new lineup, slated for release this month, are the MPEGPRO MVR and the MPEGPRO EMR.
According to a company press release, Canopus claims that both products feature ''advanced pre-filtering and variable bit rate encoding'' aimed at providing high quality MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video, even when using low bit rates.
Both products feature composite and S-video connectors. The MPEGPRO MVR is an internal PCI card, while the MPEGPRO EMR is an external device that connects to the computer via USB-1 or USB-2 ports.
Both the MPEGPRO MVR and the MPEGPRO EMR will list for $499 (U.S.) and will be available through Canopus authorized dealers and system integrators.
