Looking to expand its market beyond Asia, Dayang Technology, creator of the X-Edit™ non-linear editing solution for Asian broadcast markets, introduces X-Edit DV™, a real-time DV NLE for laptops.

Based on the X-Edit desktop application, X-Edit DV uses a standard IEEE-1394 (Firewire™/i.Link™) connector, and offers a rich feature set, including what the company claims is a ''powerful title & animation tool'' called X-CG. X-Edit DV also supports multi-format editing (MPEG2-I, DVSD, DV25, DV50, and MPEG4), a customizable user interface, full plug-in support, and a file transfer protocol (FTP) module that allows ''draft-mode'' clips to be transferred to an X-Edit workstation via the internet.

X-Edit DV also includes a software-based transcoder for web streaming in either Real Media™ or Windows Media™ formats.

Jointly developed with Sony, X-Edit DV operates on Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP-based PCs and laptops.

Pricing and availability to be announced.
