Many indications are arising that point to an announcement of a replacement for the Sony DCR-PC120BT, most likely the Sony DCR-PC130. Camcorderinfo.com has acquired multiple rumors and other indications of a DCR-PC130 being announced by Sony in the next few weeks.

Although we don't have any details on the camcorder, there are indications that a replacement for the DCR-PC120BT will be released, most likely in Japan or Australia or Europe in the next few weeks. The first indication of a US version of the PC130 is on a on a Google cached version of a 47th Street Photo site. On the web site they list a lens being available for the DCR-PC110 and the DCR-PC130. There also was a price drop on the DCR-PC120BT on September 1st. A price drop is a sure-tell sign that Sony is trying to move the inventory of the older DCR-PC120BTs to make room for a replacement.

We have also heard a rumor about a DCR-PC130 like camcorder being released in Australia. A new source to Camcorderinfo.com says that they heard from Sony of a release in the next few weeks of a DCR-PC130. There is also no PC120 available on the Australian SonyStyle web site. SonyStyle is the online retailer of Sony products, owned by Sony. Because the DCR-PC130 would replace the DCR-PC120BT, Sony is likely to take the DCR-PC120BT off their web site close to the release, as they have in the past. Sony does this typically because they are not manufacturing the camcorder that is going to be replaced any more.

In the past, Sony has almost always announced their new camcorders and releases there new camcorders in Japan before the US, Europe or any other market. However, unlike with Australia, the DCR-PC120BT is available on the SonyStyle Japan web site.

There is of course the possibility that Sony is getting rid of the DCR-PC120BT and not replacing it with anything. However this is very unlikely because DCR-PC120BT is a very popular camcorder and we can basically guarantee that these signs point towards a replacement coming out.
