DivXNetworks Inc. follows up the release of their Windows 5.1 video compression codec, with the November 5, debut of a Mac 5.1 version. The latest version of the patent-pending DivX (R) video compression technology for the Mac has improvements in speed, performance, and visual quality. DivX for Mac 5.1 is the top-performing compression tool on the Mac platform.
''With this release, we have brought the industry-leading performance and visual quality of the DivX codec to the Mac with no limitations,'' said Kevin Hell, chief marketing officer and managing director at DivXNetworks Inc.
A QuickTime component that runs on Mac OS 8.6 - X, the codec has an optional MP3 encoder for cross platform audio compatibility. The software allows Mac users to create, distribute and watch full screen DVD quality video.
DivX 5.1 for Mac comes in Professional and Standard versions. DivX Pro 5.1 is available for a one-time charge, and the standard version can be downloaded free at http://www.divx.com/divx/mac.
