he word ''event'', usually reserved for moon landings, royal weddings, and rock concerts, can now be used to describe what select Apple resellers are calling the ''4@4'' release of this year's most highly anticipated editing software: Final Cut Pro 4.
Slated for release Saturday, June 14th, at 4 p.m., the kick-off at selected stores will feature theater demos and industry pros sharing how they've used Final Cut Pro for their projects.
''Final Cut Pro 4 stole the show at this year's National Association of Broadcasters convention, sweeping the best of show awards for non-linear editors,'' said Sina Tamaddon, Apple's senior vice president of Applications.
Boasting more than 300 new features, the release of Final Cut Pro 4 has generated excitement among users and developers alike. Companies like Panasonic, AJA, Automatic Duck, Quantel, and Pinnacle, to name a few, have announced tools that enable Final Cut Pro 4 to fit into a wide variety of production environments ranging from broadcast and high-end post-production, to filmmaking and event videography, including the ability to edit and composite in formats ranging from DV to HD.
Final Cut Pro 4 will be available at Apple retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers, and on-line at www.apple.com/store/, at the suggested retail price of $999 (US). Registered Final Cut Pro users can upgrade to Final Cut Pro 4 for $399 (US).
