Avid is announcing a free DV (Firewire only) version of their popular video editing software for home, students anyone who is interested. In an attempt to bring more low-end users into the Avid product line, they are planning to release the free software mid 2003.
The program will be able to have two two video tracks and four audio tracks. Basic ins and outs and trimming and editing functionality will be available in the program as well as up to two streams of real-time effects.
The program is expected mid 2003 for Macintosh OS X and Windows XP platforms. You can sign on their website for updates about when the product is available.
