Hitachi has announced the first reduced sized MultiMedia Card. The smaller card holds more data in a smaller size, plus it works with existing MMC devices.

The card weighs just .8 grams, and has dimensions of just 24 millimeters by 18 millimeters by 1.4 millimeters. The RS-MMC card was approved by the MultiMedia Card association earlier this year but this is the first card that fits the new specs.

Hitachi is selling a 16MB, a 32MB and a 64MB card. Pricing is unknown but the company says it should be similar to the pricing on existing cards. Hitachi says that the RS-MMC cards will be available in the second quarter of next year.
