Muvee technologies has just released a free automated video editing tool for the consumer market. The product is targeted at casual video camcorder owners who do not have the knowledge or expertise to edit video without assistance.
The software will capture video, automatically cut it based on scene detection, sort what it determines to be bad video (such as shakey or poorly lit) from good video and make automatic edits based on what it believes will be the best video. The user can add music to their pieces and the computer will set the edit to the beat.
You can download the product for free at www.muvee.com. The program is completely function with no restrictions. It allows you to output in MPEG-1, DV and ASF.
The company is also offering a more expanded version, which lets the user add titles based on 24 predefined styles. The expanded version also includes 75 pre-made music and video files. Users can upgrade their software online for $59.95. The product is available now.
