New DVD player plays DiVX and downloads from the internet

A new DVD player announced today by KiSS Technologies is the first to offer an Ethernet connection to connect to the web and is also the first to offer DiVX support. The player will be first marketed in Denmark by TDC Tele Danmark as the Webtech DP500.

The player can play back video encoded in DiVX 4 and 5. The Ethernet connection will be used to connect to the web and enable the user to have "Internet radio and PC connectivity for music files, pictures and video material" the press release said.

TDC Tele Danmark is the largest telecommunications company in Denmark. KiSS technologies make a variety of DVD programs and players. Pricing was not available for the new product.
