Panasonic Announces DVD / Hard Disk Recorder

Panasonic has announced a combo hard disk recorder and DVD-R recorder. The DMR-HS2 includes a 40 GB hard drive on which 52 hours of video (or television) can be recorded. The unit can also record video to DVD-R or DVD-RAM discs.

The DMR-HS2 can be programmed to record television shows on a regular basis. The unit includes a Firewire port for transferring digital video from a camcorder to the hard drive or to a DVD-R disk. The unit also includes a PCMCIA slot to accept many different types of flash memory cards used in digital still cameras. The still images can be transferred to the hard drive or to a DVD.

The DMR-HS2 is available now for an MSRP of $999.
