The PV-L759 is a VHSC camcorder that has an MSRP of $799.95. It has a very high optical zoom of 26x, one of the highest zooms available in all camcorders, and a digital zoom of 150x. VHSC has positive and negative aspects. It is convenient since you can simply take the tape, put it into an adapter, and just slide it into your VCR. This method keeps you from having to plug cords into the camera and VCR. There are also many problems with VHSC that steers some users away from VHSC camcorders. VHSC tapes limit you to only 30 minutes of recording time at the highest quality, and 1 hour at a lower quality. The picture quality is extremely poor with VHSC, with less than 200 lines of resolution. Some numbers, I have heard, are 120 lines of resolution. This is terrible resolution and the pictures a VHSC camcorder produces are degraded and of extremely low quality. This camcorder adds a 4-inch LCD screen, which the earlier Panasonic model did not have. This camcorder also has a 480,000 pixel CCD that improves the image quality. The camcorder includes a 2MB Compact Flash Memory Card that allows the camcorder to be used as a digital camera.
The camera has a lot of neat features, such as the Compact Flash Memory Card. A good camcorder for someone looking for features similar to a digital camcorder, the PV-L759 also provides the convenience of a VHSC camcorder.
