Rumor has it that Sony is planing on releasing the TRV950, a replacement for the three year old, very popular three chip TRV900. A credible source has told us that the camcorder will have three megapixel CCD's.

Rumor has it that production of the TRV900 has been halted. With a camcorder this popular, Sony would never halt production on the camcorder with out plans of comming out with a new one. A credible source who wanted to remain announymus said that the TRV950E (E stands for European) will be realeased in Europe in June as a replacement for their version of the TRV900. Sony has almost always released products overseas before releasing them in the U.S., and a Japanese version is typically first.

The source said that the camcorder will be released sometime around June. If the rumor is true and Sony has a European replacement for the TRV950E out in June, than a U.S. version should come a few months after that. The source said that the camcorder will remain a 3-CCD camcorder but with three megapixel chips. This is a major step if it stands true because no three CCD chips have anything close to megapixel chips. We can only guess about what other features will be included but we can guess that the upgrade in the chips will most likely be coupled with the addition of Bluetooth, USB Capture, MPEGX and other "supplementary" upgrades which were added to the new Sony MiniDV camcorders and Digital8 camcorders recently.
