Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today unveiled the new SCH-V410, a cellular phone that records video, plays mp3’s, and replaces the remote control. The camcorder phone is capable of recording and editing up to two hours of video streams, and can store up to 30 downloaded songs. The phone is capable of changing channels and adjusting volume on a TV, DVD player, VCR, or karaoke machine.
In addition to a built in strobe light, the 310,000-pixel camera has backlight compensation that enhances performance in places where light and dark contrasts are severe. The SCH-V410 has two screens, the internal is a 262,000-color TFT-LCD and the external is 16-gray scale OLED. The unit supports video on demand services, and a ''live screen'' function displays video streams as a screen saver.
The phone supports such multimedia functions like Voice On Demand, ring tone downloads and screen image downloads. Music can be played without opening the phone, and is controlled by several external operation buttons. A ''live bell'' function plays hi-fi music as a ring tone. The video quality of the phone however is in doubt considering the low pixel count and high compression that is required to fit 2 hours of video on a phone, of course, we can't make any major judgements until we've seen it.
