At NAB today, Sony announced its new Vegas 5 non -linear editing software. Sony Vegas 5 offers more specialized features than previous versions, increased functionality, and extensive audio updates and support. Vegas 5 supports SD, HD, HDV real time production across unlimited tracks.
As outlined in the press release, this new version of Vegas includes the following: 3D track motion and compositing, network rendering, transition progress envelopes, keyframable Bezier masks, network rendering, transition progress envelopes, subtitle/text export to DVD Architect® software, Flash™ .swf import, ACID® software loop properties support, 5.1 audio plug-in support at the master bus level, film-style 5.1 surround panning, keyboard event pitch shifting, downmix monitoring, external control surface support, envelope automation recording, customizable UI's and keyboard mapping, media subclips, realtime A/V event reverse, support for external Sony hardware devices such as the DSR-DU1 and DSR-DR1000 video disk recorders and J-H3 HDCAM ®player.
The Sony Vegas 5 software has a MSRP of US $699.95.
