Sony has officially announced the DCR-TRV950 the replacement for the very popular DCR-TRV900. Camcorderinfo.com first ran a story on the TRV950 on March 4th, before Sony had officially announced it. The DCR-TRV950 has three megapixel CCD's and the DCR-PC101 is Sony's latest horizontal, matchbox camcorder.
Here is a summary of the features in the new DCR-TRV950:
- The first three Megapixel CCD's with HAD technology.
- 12x optical 150x digital zoom.
- Manual focus ring.
- 1152 x 864 still pixel resolution.
- Weighs 2 pounds 2 ounces.
- 3.5 in. LCD Screen. The LCD screen is also a touch panel for navigating the camcorder's menus. The touch panel can also be used to set the focus.
- MPEG MovieX mode to record MPEG movies that are only limited by the size of the Memory Stick.
- Hologram AF focusing system.
- USB video streaming feature like on other new Sony camcorders.
- Bluetooth networking technology to send emails with MPEG1 and still attachments. The camcorder can also surf the web, similar to the DCR-PC120BT.
- Memory Stick slot with 8MB Memory Stick included.
The new DCR-PC101, a horizontal matchbox camcorder has the following specs:
- Single, Megapixel CCD.
- 10x optical, 120x digital zoom.
- USB video streaming feature link on other new Sony camcorders.
- MPEG MovieX feature like the DCR-TRV950.
- 2.5 in. LCD screen with similar touch panel features as the DCR-TRV950.
- Color night shot mode.
- Sony's smallest MiniDV camcorder.
The DCR-TRV950 should be available in June for $2500 and the DCR-PC101 should be available also in June for around $1300. We are already working to get you a review of the camcorder as soon as it is released.
