The DCR-TRV9 has a MSRP of $1599. It uses the MiniDv format and has a 3.5-inch LCD screen and a color viewfinder. A special feature on the TRV9 is the composite input, a feature that lets you convert old videos to digital. The camcorder includes a FireWire, used for digital editing and copying. Not only does the camcorder have a 15x optical zoom and a 180x digital zoom, it also has a nice 8-hour battery that allows for extended recording periods. One feature that the TRV9 has that I think is especially great is the focus ring. A feature often ignored, the focus ring allows you to focus using the ring around the lens, which offers great focusing control. Clearly, good control is essential in shooting good video.
