Today, at COMDEX, Sony announced three new editing products. The EZ-Editing line of software is targeted at the home user. Sony has introduced three programs in this new software line.
Sony's EZ Audio kit allows the user to transfer audio into their computer and clean up pops and hissing noises (Maybe they should give this to those early PD-150 owners :-) ). The software program was made by MAGIX®. The kit also comes with a 10-foot stereo cable with RCA plugs, three 80-minute CD-R discs, and a headphone miniplug adapter.
Sony also announced the EZ Editor Digital8 kit. The kit includes both editing software and a IEEE 1394 FireWire board for transfer of video from the camcorder to the computer. The editing software seems targeted at the most inexperienced consumers. In their press release, Sony announced that the program edits out the "boring parts". Sony was not clear whether the name Digital8 kit means that this kit will only work with Digital8 camcorders and not MiniDV camcorders. I would be surprised however if the kit only worked with Digital8 camcorders.
The third product Sony announced is the EZ Memories kit. The kit includes software to help users make photo albums to eventually burn on CD. The kit also includes three CD-R disks and CD mailing labels.
Sony also mentioned an analog editing kit but they did not give details on if it will have a capture card and what it will cost.
The audio kit is available now in stores for $49.99. The Digital8 kit will be available this holiday season for $99.99 and the EZ Memories Kit will be available in January for $49.99.
