Memory Stick, Sony's flash media which is utilized in many of their camcorders, have received support in the form of products by many manufacturers.

Sanyo, Fujitsu Ten and Pioneer are showing car audio products at Comdex which support Memory Sticks. Hewlett-Packard and Epson are both displaying printers which take Memory Sticks. Alpine is showing a car navigation system which supports Memory Sticks and Acer is showing a PDA that supports Memory Sticks.

Other companies are showing GPS devices and Cell Phones at Comdex which support Memory Sticks. Sony also offered these statistics: 300 products are currently available which support Memory Sticks (the majority of which are Sony), and 15 million Memory Sticks have been shipped.

Further support of the Memory Stick is good for anyone who uses a Sony camcorder which uses Memory Sticks. Further support means that the industry is taking further steps to making the Memory Stick a standard. However, the Memory Stick is far from becoming the standard that Sony wishes it was. There are many competing formats available today including Crystal Flash and Secure Digital (SD) cards. Also, you want more support of your flash media also because the more products with that support your flash media, the more you can do with it. For example, now that there are Memory Stick printers available, camcorder users can take the stills that they shot with their camcorder and print them with out using a computer.
